Thinking about replacing the need for a second car with an E-bike? Looking at converting your classic bike to electric? Or simply want to get about town without having to walk up the hills? Come to the Woodend E-Bike Expo and see the range of E-bikes available for you and your family. Try them out and ask questions from locals on how they live with E-bikes in the Macedon Ranges
As part of the Woodend E-Bike Expo in this year’s Macedon Ranges Sustainable Living Festival, MRSG is proud to screen Motherload at the Norma Richardson Hall, St Mary’s Anglican Church, High Street Woodend, Friday 31st March, 7-8.30pm. Be inspired!

Hepburn Shire is on the way to zero emissions by 2030. With transport accounting for 33% of the Shires emissions, electric vehicles will be fundamental to reaching this target. By owning and driving an EV you’ll be shrinking your emissions and driving towards a green future.
Check out properties from all around Australia in a virtual event organised by Renew … places we’d never dream of being able to get to in one day.
Homes will be presented from 12th September leading up to the main event on Sunday September 20th … an event like a virtual conference, with a range of presentation and “question and answer” sessions running concurrently.

The Sustainable Homes Action Group, with support from the Renewable Energy Action Group, is planning a morning of retrofitting at the Woodend Neighbourhood House. We’ll be working on draughtproofing windows and doors and applying secondary glazing (a layer of Perspex inside the window glass as a DIY alternative to double glazing). Let us know if you’d like to join in, by email to susthomes@mrsg.org.au, by about 19th June, so we can organise teams mindful of social distancing requirements.
The WNH Winter Energy Improvement Project is supported by the Federal Government “Stronger Communities” Programme.
Be part of a community- led planning process to guide local action on climate change in the wider Woodend district. The project involves a few facilitated workshops over the next few months, to develop a plan for the Woodend community to act on climate change at the local level.
MRSG’s Transport Action Group is exploring ways to empower and encourage children to ride to school in Woodend. This includes lobbying and working with the Macedon Ranges Shire Council to build the infrastructure (bike paths, road crossings etc) to ensure the safety of children as they ride to school. This Tuesday this group is meeting at Woodend Neighbourhood House 7.30-8.30pm and is inviting any member of the community who wish to be part of this project.

Did you know elsewhere in Victoria 74% of people wanted to walk/cycle more often. The barriers being time/infrastructure/weather. Women are twice as likely to abandon walking/cycling when the journey feels unsafe.
Tell us what your barriers are. We have a TAG - facebook page and you can come and meet us at the Woodend Farmers Market each month. How can we encourage more Active Transport?
TAG team will be at the Woodend Farmers Market with a giant map (thank you Tim Goss MRSC)
We would love you to show us how you like to get to school.
Where is your favourite route?
What are the landmarks you love.
Does your journey feel safe?
Where do you like cross?
Come and meet us and tell us your stories. Did you know studies elsewhere in Victoria have shown that 74% of children would like to walk/cycle/scoot to school, is that you? Most of you live within 800m of your school. 20 years ago 75% of children walked/cycled to school.
We would like to help make it easier, safer and more enjoyable.
Are you interested in Active Transport? We are supporting ‘Walk/Ride/Scoot to School’ initiative during October in Woodend. Come along and share your ideas.
Find us at the next Woodend Farmers Market to ‘draw your route to school’
